Bio
Alex Yewon is a composer from South Korea currently working in Los Angeles, CA. Her scoring work ranges from drama and comedy to thriller and sci-fi, moving fluidly between orchestral, contemporary band, and synthesizer-based music. She recently scored the documentary feature Deliver Us, and her score for Matter And Space - Butterflies was nominated for Best Song/Score for Commercial Advertisement at the 2025 Hollywood Music in Media Awards.
Alex began her musical career as a guitarist in Korea, studying a wide range of genres including jazz, blues, funk, and rock. She spent several years playing in indie rock bands around Seoul, an experience that shaped her sense of groove, texture, and musical interplay. She later moved to the United States to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music as a scholarship recipient, where she began working extensively with orchestra.
Since 2021, Alex has worked closely with Emmy-winning composer Jeff Russo, writing additional music for TV series Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, Hostage, and Mrs. Davis, as well as arranging music for Ripley and For All Mankind.
While Alex’s primary focus is film and television, her work also includes podcast theme music, advertising scores, and orchestration for the commercially released VR game Rhythm of the Universe: Ionia. She continues to develop her work across narrative and documentary projects, with a focus on story-driven, emotionally precise scoring.
